ENERGY NEUTRALITY
WE ARE YOUR CLIMATE PARTNER
Kishwaukee Water Reclamation District CHP Unit no. 2
In week 4 2022, NISSEN energy commissioned CHP unit No. 2 at the Kishwaukee Water Reclamation District.
The unit, based on a MAN E3268 LE212, with an associated sound enclosure was assembled on site in the existing building. The plant’s CHP unit no. 1 was delivered and commissioned by NISSEN energy in 2018.
At KWRD they work to achieve energy neutrality:
“Energy is a major consideration for wastewater treatment plants. It takes a lot of electricity to keep all our equipment operating 24/7, making energy consumption our second-largest expense after payroll. We’ve made energy efficiency a key component of the way we do business”.
The total power output is now 2 x 375kW, which means that the plant’s CHP units can supply the total power consumption for the complete wastewater facility.
The installations have been commissioned for biogas with natural gas as backup to ensure supply, in short, the gas engines can run on both gas types and/or a mixture of the two gases (dual-fuel).
From NISSEN energy, we thank the district for a good project, and are now looking forward to many years of continued good operational cooperation.
